A chance meeting
The other week I was doing outreach in the city centre with a friend, who felt to head to the indoor market. The cafe there had put out a table with colouring for kids, but there was an older gentleman who stood at the table, diligently colouring in. Feeling to talk to him, we picked up some coloured pens and joined in while chatting with him. He admitted he knew this was for children but he loved colouring so why not?
During that conversation, we were able to share the gospel with him. He was a little resistant at first. Then as I watched his colouring, I pointed out that his creative drive comes ultimately from God our Creator, and by being creative he is opening the door to an intimate relationship with the Father. He had never considered that before, and softened to what we were sharing.
I came away feeling inspired. The idea for this community had been brewing in the back of my mind for weeks after God had given me a vision and dropped the words "Creativity Collective" into my mind. I felt this encounter was a sign that inviting people into a creative space can open doors to the Gospel in new ways.
